Welcome Patients
Marihuana Caregivers is not run by attorneys and we can not give you legal advice. We are also not doctors and can not recommend that marihuana will meet your medical needs. We actually must recommend against marihuana usage or posession due to many risks. However, there has been much anecdotal evidence that marihuana helps relieve many symptoms and we have some personal recommendations and precautions for using and acquiring marihuana safely.
If you suffer from severe and chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, glaucoma, or from a debilitating disease such as AIDS, hepatitis C, Chrohn's or Alzheimer's to name a few, you've come to the right place to find information and help with your medical marihuana needs. Marihuana can be a natural way to find some symptom relief.
What You Should Know
Marihuana can not be prescribed by your doctor, and it is not a pharmaceutical drug. Instead, we recommend that you consult your attending physician (a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathic medicine) and ask if he or she believes that marihuana would be of benefit during your treatment of a condition covered under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (MMMA). In many cases, Marihuana is not the only treatment, and presription drugs may be more suitable. As with any treatment or drug use, we recommend getting second opinions and consulting a pharmacist about any prescription drugs.
Marihuana, although legal for medical purposes in Michigan, is still not legal under U.S. federal law. In theory, a U.S. Marshall, FBI, DEA, or other federal agent could arrest a legal Michigan medical marihuana user. Medical marihuana users should be aware of these risks and contact a competent attorney for legal advice.
Due to the high demand of marihuana for illegal use, the posession of marihuana or being in the presence of marihuana will make you a target for burglary and theft, which are a threat to your personal safety and that of your family and neighbors.
Smoking marihuana requires inhaling many noxious and carcinogenic toxins. Using a water pipe can help cool the smoke and make for a more comfortable smoking experience, but it does not filter out most of the toxins and tar. Please conduct your own investigations and read available research on the healthiest way to use marihuana.
Getting Started
Please visit the web site of the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDHC) for more information on the MMMA.
In general, your Michigan licensed medical doctor (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) will need to prepare an "Attending Physician's Statement" verifying that you are under the care of the physician. The physician will also need to certify in writing that you suffer from a qualifying debilitating disease. These documents are part of the process of registering with the MDHC for an identification card that will make you a member of their program and will allow you to legally be in posession of a limited amount of marihuana and to use it.
Once you have your registry identification card, or before you even consider registering, we recommend consulting with a Michigan attorney for legal advice.
We highly recommend against growing your own marihuana, but once you are in posession of a registry identification card, you will be able to grow up to 12 plants and be in posession of 2.5 ounces of marihuana in a usable form. We recommend instead that you designate a primary caregiver to grow those plants, and to provide you with up to 2 ounces of usable marihuana (the .5 ounces should be used as an allowance for mistakes when weighing) at a time as you need it. Once you designate a primary caregiver to grow your plants, you will be unable to be in posession of any live plants yourself.
Many medical marihuana users indicate that a single puff from a water pipe every 2-4 hours helps relieve many symptoms. With this light usage, the 2 ounces of usable marihuana that you can be in posession of, should last a long time.
Marihuana can not be used in public places and can not be brought onto school grounds, the grounds of a correctional facility, or on any form of public transportation. Operating, nagivating, or being in physical control of any motor vehicle, aircraft, or motorboat while under the influence of marihuana is not authorized under the MMMA. Undertaking any task under the influence of marihuana would constitute negligence or professional malpractice.
Using our Services
We recommend using this site to find yourself a marihuana caregiver that can provide not only marihuana but instruction on how to use the plant, that can provide marihuana in your preferred form such as already ground plant for a water pipe, and that you feel will meet your needs.
This site's intent is not to have caregivers compete on price, and you should expect to pay a premium for the plant and services. Growing marihuana is not easy and is not safe. We recommend that you never discuss your caregiver's identity or address with anyone, and that you do not reveal yourself as a member of the MDHC program.
Additionally, we recommend against visiting a grow house (where marihuana is grown) and instead recommend paying for delivery service.
For privacy and security (including our own) We do not ask for any personally identifiable information when you register. There is no directory of patients. Doctors, caregivers, attorneys, and vendors will not be able to search through a directory of patients like you will be able to search through a directory of doctors, caregivers, and attorneys. Only your patient number will be provided to a caregiver when you initiate a caregiver relationship. Only if that caregiver and you decide to proceed and establish a caregiver relationship should you provide your full name and address. Please do not break your anonymity at any other time, on this site. If you decide to use a doctor or attorney's services, please contact them offline.
