Welcome Doctors

Unfortunately, many doctors may be unwilling to consider marihuana under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (MMMA) as an alternative to prescription drugs. Although prescription drugs may manage many symptoms, there has been anecdotal evidence that marihuana can be used for symptom relief for many debilitating diseases.

If you are a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), are accepting patients, and include medical marihuana in the treatment options that you discuss with your patients, even if you recommend against it, please register with our site so that our patients can find you.

By registering, you aren't labeling yourself as a "marihuana doctor". We want doctors that typically recommend against marihuana due to its many risks and the many already proven successful prescription drugs. However, we hope that doctors registered here will consider recommending legal medical marihuana to a patient where it would make a difference and where that patient is willing to accept the risks. At that time, we would hope that you would be willing to sign the required paperwork to show that you are that patient's attending physician and whether the patient has a qualifying debilitating disease under the MMMA.

What You Should Know

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) is keeping track of the number of physicians prividing written certifications for patients. Registering for this site, recommending marihuana, or providing a written certification of a debilitating condition for a patient should be done under legal advice. We recommend consulting a competent attorney.

Having the addresses of patients who are likely in posession of marihuana could make you and your business a target of burglary or other crimes.
